Alamo Heights Residence

The young couple who own this home purchased it for its location and plan to raise a family in it. The master bath was in need of some updates, and they decided to move into the guest bedroom during the remodel. Their main wishes for the space were to have 2 separate vanities, a free standing tub and a large shower big enough for 2. The shower was relocated from its original location and the tub remained under the existing window which was changed from glass block to a new picture window with a decorative grate added to add a bit of privacy and to obscure the pool equipment just outside. A motorized shade was installed between the window and the grate for privacy.

His and hers vanities were added, each with its own built in medicine cabinet for plenty of storage for toiletries. The new free-standing tub was equipped with a floor mounted tub filler with a telephone style hand-shower that comes in handy for washing hair, or cleaning the tub. The shower features two shower-heads plus a hand-shower if its own. The floor tile is a marble-look porcelain tile, and the shower has a hand-made subway tile and an encaustic cement tile. Brushed brass fixtures and hardware sparkle against the gray-blue cabinets and a crystal chandelier completes the look.
